MECC Board Members Paid Courtesy Visit to Mr. Ho Hau Wah
On 20 March 2026, Members of the newly elected Executive and Supervisory Board of the Macau European Chamber of Commerce recently paid a courtesy visit on Mr. Ho Hau Wah, Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, to brief him on the Chamber’s future direction and exchange views on deepening cooperation and exchanges between Macao and Europe in areas such as trade, finance, technology, culture and sustainable development.
Mr. Ho Hau Wah noted that Macao, with the institutional advantages of ‘One Country, Two Systems’ and its unique geographical location, should seize the opportunities presented by the country’s new development paradigm. He emphasised the need to further leverage Macao’s role as a platform to attract more European enterprises to enter the Greater Bay Area and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone via Macao, thereby achieving resource sharing and industrial synergy.
Ms. Echo Chan, President of the MECC, stated that the Chamber would fully leverage its role as a bridge connecting Europe and Macao, actively aligning with the strategic directions set out in the country’s 15th Five-Year Plan regarding the promotion of high-quality development, deepening of opening-up, and the integration of green transformation with the digital economy, thereby contributing to the moderate diversification of Macao’s economy.
